Cooper

Yesterday we had to put our 10 year old Golden Retriever to sleep.  Cancer took him and we feel such a void.  He was a gentleman and he will be missed terribly.

The bottom two pictures were taken by my son Christian who probably miss him the most.

Daily routines?

As a general rule I have trouble sticking to things that I have to do daily.  I love the thought of keeping a journal and documenting my daily thoughts but I start out strong and then it's over.  It's the same with exercise.  I know I have to do it but other things get my attention and my daily is not so daily anymore.  This leads me to photography and participating in a 365 group.  This year was my second attempt and I think I got to day 8 before I strayed.  Anyway,  I found something I can stick to (at least I think I can) and that is the photo assignments from Divas and Dreams.  Christina is a wonderful photographer from Denmark and every Sunday she posts a new photo assignment  for the week.  At the end of the week she picks her faves and posts them on her blog.  This I think I can do.  This week it is Childhood and last week it was Shooting from above.   Check out her website Divas and Dreams , join the Flickr group and become a Shutter Diva.
Christina has a fabulous giveaway this week.  She is teaching a 6 week on line photography course and she is giving one spot away.

Childhood Assignment

Shooting from above assignment.

Sewing

I love to sew and I haven't done it much lately but it is something I grew up with.  My grandmother taught me to make a pattern out of newspaper from an already existing skirt and make a new one.  My best friend and I made very cool (mid 60's) skirts out of pillow cases which we painted.
My parents are from Scotland where the woolen industry was the way of life for most people and it was the textile industry that brought my parents here.  I got a little off track here but my point is that the creative part of sewing has always been something I enjoy.
I have a pile of vintage hankies that I have wanted to use in some way.  Years ago I made the top of quilt with these old hankies  but never finished it and so it has been used many times as a table cloth.   I wanted to do something small so I thought about pillows.  Instead I came up with these small pillow cases.  I think they are sweet.

I am open for suggestions as to other ideas for these hankies.  They are so pretty and feminine.
I actually made the white pillow case just because I didn't have any small ones.  Anybody know where to buy a small cotton pillow case?  It would be much easier to use a store bought one.
I'm having fun with these so I think I'll make a few more.

Possibilities

I like to get up and have my coffee in the dark and quiet before anyone else gets up. I pray and listen.  It's only half an hour or so but it's just the right amount of time in the morning.  There is a bird that sings after I have been sitting there for a little while and it seems to give me hope for the possibilities of the day.  I don't know what it is exactly but I look forward to hearing him in the morning.  I love the definition of hope as the possibility that something wonderful can happen.    I do hope that your day is full of possibilities!
